Updates!

Updated: 5 hours ago

It's U week here on the blog, so let's see what utterly unbelievable headlines I can come up with for this edition!

Um yum! The ultimate Birthday cake!

This week we combined our annual Volunteer BBQ with a very special occassion: Jim's 21st Birthday! We all had a lovely time, especially Jim, who was very spoilt!

Unable to Remember Dates?

Pop these in your phone and set up a reminder!

RDA Term dates:

Term 5 finish Sat 23rd May

Term 6 start Tuesday 2nd June – lessons are available to book on EC Pro.

Utterly Delicious Cakes Required!

RDA Regional Competitions:

The Mid West Regional dressage qualifier is taking place on Wednesday 20th May at West Wilts Equestrian Centre. Best of luck to everyone taking part. Our equine team have been off on lots of adventures this week to prepare them for the trip.

Then, we are hosting the Mid West Regional SJ qualifier on Thursday 28th May here at Avon. As always, cakes needed for the day. You know the drill by now! Home baked or shop bought, we don't mind, but if you home bake please bring in a list of ingredients so we can be allergy aware.

Utilise our manure!

To make your garden its best! We have a huge, steaming pile of well rotted manure, available for a donation! Come along with your own bags and shovels and help yourself! Then either make a donation in the office, or through our JustGiving page.

Uplifting Fun for Everyone!

That's our Open Day! This year we're holding it on June 14th. There are still some activities available to book and we are still on the lookout for volunteers to help run the day. If you are a stall holder and would like to have a table, we have opportunities for that too! However you would like to get involved, please email Mojca@theavoncentre.org.uk

Unbelievable Opportunity!

I know from experience that some of you out there are very crafty indeed, so this could be just the opportunity you've been looking for! The Great British Sewing Bee is currently casting for Series 13 and are keen to hear from talented home sewers from all backgrounds and experiences.

They’re especially committed to making their application process as inclusive and accessible as possible. They would warmly welcome applications from Disabled people and those with long-term health conditions who have a passion for sewing and creating their own clothes.

Applications are open and can be submitted here: www.applyforsewingbee.co.uk

Deadline: 8:00pm on Wednesday 13th May 2026.

Ultimately - from our friends at BDEF
