COMPETITIONS

We run monthly unaffiliated show jumping throughout the year (usually last Sunday of the month) and monthly unaffiliated dressage winter series from October to April. Occasionally we will also run Combined training, check the schedules below for more info.

Who Is the Camp For?

Our Riding Camps are designed for riders who want to:

  • Enjoy quality time with their horse

  • Build confidence in and out of the saddle

  • Develop a positive and focused mindset

  • Learn new skills and expand their knowledge

  • Improve their riding and overall performance

 

Who Can Attend?

Our camps are open to riders aged 12 and over, and we welcome participants of all abilities and experience levels.

Please note:

  • The Avon Centre does not provide horses for camp participants.

  • Riders aged 12–17 must be accompanied by a supervising adult throughout the day.

 

What's Included?

Your camp day includes:

  1. Two training sessions – either ridden (in your chosen discipline) or in-hand.

  2. A day stable with shavings provided (please bring your own hay or haylage).

  3. Catering throughout the day.

  4. Free use of our hacking track.

  5. A Shai L Horsemanship demonstration.

  6. A fun and supportive atmosphere, with opportunities to meet like-minded riders, learn new skills, and enjoy a fantastic day with your horse.

 

Additional in-hand training sessions or loading sessions with Shai L Horsemanship can be arranged on request.

 

Available Disciplines

You can choose from the following session options:

  1. Dressage

  2. Pole Work

  3. Show Jumping

  4. In-Hand Groundwork

Following your booking, you will receive a form by email (within a few days) asking for:

  • Your chosen disciplines

  • Riding level and experience

  • Horse details (including size)

  • Medical information

  • Any optional add-ons

 

Lesson Format

Ridden lessons are delivered in semi-private groups. Riders of similar ability will be paired together wherever possible.

If participant numbers require, groups of three riders may be combined into a 60-minute lesson.

In-hand groundwork sessions are group lessons of up to four horses and are 60 minutes in duration.

Terms & Conditions

By paying the booking deposit, participants are deemed to have read, understood, and accepted the Avon Centre Riding Camp Terms & Conditions.

Booking & Payment

A non-refundable £30 deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

The remaining £60 balance is due by 2 August 2026 (three weeks before camp).

Cancellation Policy

Before 2 August 2026

  • If you have paid the full amount and cancel before 2 August 2026, the £60 balance will be refunded.

  • The £30 deposit remains non-refundable.

After 2 August 2026

  • Refunds cannot be guaranteed unless your place can be filled.

 

Transferring or Selling Your Place

If you can no longer attend, you are welcome to arrange for another rider to take your place. Please notify us as soon as possible so that we can collect the new participant's details.

If you are unable to find a replacement, please let us know. If we are able to fill your place from our waiting list, we will refund your payment in accordance with the above terms.

As horses can occasionally become injured or unavailable, places may become available at short notice. If a space opens up, we will contact those on the waiting list directly.
