AVON RIDING CLUB
Avon Riding Club started life the commercial riding arm of the Centre. By riding with ARC and paying the commercial rate you are helping support the charitable works of The Avon Centre, along with receiving the benefits of riding with a BHS Accredited Riding School with BHS Accredited instructors and the use of our excellent facilities. The Avon Centre is one of the only BHS Approved Centres in Bristol and all of our coaches are qualified to BHS standards.
How it Works
Membership includes a weekly guaranteed lesson slot, agreed between you and the stable manager.
The membership fee is non-refundable and sessions will be bookable weekly at a discounted rate.
It is the member's responsibility to book the lessons weekly. If the slot is not booked by 3 days prior to lesson taking place it will be opened up to other members (at the discounted rate) and registered riders not in a membership at the full price to book.
All sessions not specified as - flatwork - will include hacking/polework/lessons in fields (seasonal) and jump work (if applicable).
Not only does this improve your versatility as a rider, but keeps our horses happy, healthy and enjoying their work.
We encourage club members to arrive early to help prepare and tack up their horses (tacking up must be signed off by a member of staff).
ARC would love to make well rounded horse riders and encourage challenge to achieve this. We welcome members to volunteer for yard work, events, and create a supportive environment for fellow members and participants at the centre.
ARC plan to host in house competitions and seasonal get togethers such as BBQs and Christmas Parties for our members.
Although we will have regulated weekly sessions, during holidays there will be opportunities for private lessons, in house competitions, clinics and pony days (open to all).
If you have already been assessed as a rider and would like to join a membership please speak to Sammy.
School holidays we provide plenty of activities, clinics and in house competitions throughout the weeks.

Help towards BHS Stage 1 and 2 assessments
We provide a service for a range of abilities whether it is your complete beginner to advance. Clients can choose between having private tuition or joining a group of similar ability riders, groups are a maximum of five riders in order to maintain a good level of instruction to each client.
There is a weight limit of 13 stone for all riders.
If you would like to ride* with Avon Riding Club please register on EC Pro and add yourself as a rider.
We will then grade you as “pre assessed” and you will be able to book private lessons, simulator lessons and assessments. Once you have been assessed, you will be graded and then able to book lessons appropriate to your ability.
It would be helpful if you could state in one of the boxes that you are registering to ride through BHR, as it will make it easier for us to give you the appropriate grade.
Prices currently range from £20-£50 for ridden activities and each session is individually priced on EC Pro.
*We are currently not in a position to take any new riders as our waiting list has become untenable. However, if you are interested in Challenge Awards or other training, holiday activities such as pony days or ride outs then please still register.
